A MUM-TO-BE has captured the amazing moment her baby rolls over inside her womb.While many expecting mums are able to see their unborn babies moving around by the third trimester of pregnancy, this is less common in the final month of pregnancy due to the lack of space.However, one mum has managed to capture an incredible video of her unborn baby girl rolling around at 39 weeks.In a video posted on YouTube, the mum-to-be is seen relaxing on a sofa in pyjamas with her baby bump in full view of the camera.Her baby can then clearly be seen moving under her skin as the tot starts to squirm inside her mother’s womb.“Ah, she's starting”, the woman is heard saying, before the shape of her baby's arms and legs start to become obvious.The baby continues fidget around and eventually can clearly be seen completely rolling over.The legs and feet of the babe become visible as she pushes out and proceeds to flip herself over.

The captivating video has now achieved over a whopping 5.4 million views on YouTube, leaving thousands of viewers in awe at the amazing footage.One woman wrote: “That was so amazing to see, on so many levels that I'm still processing it. Can you imagine how awesome it will be for the person to see a video of themselves moving around in the belly. Wow! Thank you for sharing.”Another added: “This is literally the coolest thing I have seen in my entire life. It's so surreal to feel your baby moving inside! but it's such a blessing!”“Aww momma! That looks so painful! big hugs and best wishes with your baby! Hope you're both well!”, wrote another.

However, while many were touched by the footage, others were left slightly unnerved by the video.A fellow mother-to-be wrote: “Not sure if this was a good idea to watch... I'm 28 weeks preggo with twins and even though it's not like that I can already see some the movements and they move a ton [sic].”

Another woman added: “That was insane! Must've been born big! Mine never looked like that! Wow!”

“Anyone get a little creeped out? I mean it’s cool and stuff don’t get me wrong”, someone else wrote.

CHALLENGES facing cancer patients at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute in accessing medicines will soon be made things of the past as the government is working round the clock to address them.
Deputy Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Hamis Kigwangalla, told Members of Parliament (MPs) here that the needs for chemotherapy medicines to treat cancer for the year 2015/16 is 7.2bn/-.“The government shoulders the costs of treatment of cancer for patients suffering from the disease and has been increasing budget allocation for purchasing of cancer medicines and be supplied to the cancer victims at the institute,” he explained.
The deputy minister was responding to basic question from Rashid Ali Abdalla (Tumbe – CUF), who said cancer patients at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute cannot access treatments on time, wanting to know what the government is doing to address the challenges.Dr Kigwangalla said in 2011 the government in collaboration with Bungando Hospital started construction of a cancer institute at the hospital, which will increase the capacity to treat cancer patients.

He said construction of the institute is now complete including bunkers where Linear accelerator or in short LINAC machines for treatment of cancer will be installed.

“The next step is to instal the Linac machines which are being used in Tanzania for the first time and treatment of cancer through chemotherapy drug is available and is dispensed to patients who need this line of treatment,” he explained.

The linac machine generates high energy x-rays (photons) which are then carefully aimed at the area targeted for treatment. It can be used to treat all areas of the body from head to toe.

TFDA working hard to take off the shelves and destroy banned cosmetics

THE Tanzania Foods and Drugs Regulatory Authority (TFDA) officials in the Northern Zone have raised alarm in connection with ‘increasing cases of misuse’ of creams initially prescribed for treatments of eczema and other skin disorders.

According to the TFDA Northern Zone’s Manager, Mr Damas Matiko Nyang’anyi, the authority is working hard to take off the shelves and destroy banned cosmetics, that many women used to apply to bleach their skins.But now, users of these outlawed products have resorted to applying medically prescribed skin creams and ointments in their quest for lighter complexions.
“The government had slammed a ban on soaps, skin creams, ointments and other products that contain deadly intoxicants such as Steroids, Chloroforms, Mercury, Sulphur, Hydroquinone and eleven other listed harmful chemicals,” said Mr Matiko.
He added that despite the ban, traders have been smuggling such compounds into the country and selling them clandestinely due to high demand. “But manufacturers of these creams have of late been a little more clever by choosing not to print the list of active ingredients on packages containing creams and ointments.

“This means we now have to start afresh taking products to the government chemist laboratories to test whether they contained the intoxicants or not,” explained the TFDA Manager.

But even worse, some people have been going to chemist shops, dispensaries and hospitals to buy permitted and legally imported skin treating products which again they misuse through over-application or smearing them over their skins without following medical prescriptions.

This, according to TFDA, is as dangerous as using poisonous chemicals. “As a result we are now experiencing increasing cases of skin and liver cancer, women missing their menstrual cycles, some giving birth to retarded children. Other problems include brain tumours, sudden unexplained deaths, prostate cancer for men and increased facial hair for ladies,” warned Mr Matiko.

Some of the banned cosmetic products are those bearing trademarks such as Jaribu (soaps) Diva Clearing Soap, Princess Cream, Mont-Claire cream and many others that keep cropping up the shelves on daily basis with different names.

Arusha City leads in cases of skin bleaching ladies with the banned cosmetics being destroyed by TFDA on weekly basis, but also the number of cosmetic shops are on the rise, with many of the banned creams also being sold at beauty parlours or hair re-making salons.

Tanzania. Global Fund approves 28.6bn/- for HIV/AIDS, TB programmes

THE Global Fund Programme has approved a grant of USD 13 million (about 28.6bn/-) to support government efforts for prevention, treatment and support of people suffering from HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB) in 14 regions in mainland Tanzania.
According to Save the Children Country Director, Mr Steve Thorne, regions covered through the implementation of the programme include Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, Rukwa, Katavi, Tabora, Kigoma, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Kagera, Singida, Dar es Salaam and all key population interventions.
“Save the Children was selected as the Principal Recipient of the grant in the private sector and will complement with the Ministry of Finance and Planning through the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Children and Elderly in collaboration with key stakeholders including National Aids Control Programme (NACP) National TB and Leprosy Programme (NTLP),” Mr Thorne noted.

He was speaking in Dar es Salaam during the signing ceremony of the sub agreements by the four-sub recipients which are Africare, Benjamin Mkapa Foundation (BMF), Amref Health Africa and Management and Development for Health (MDH) which will implement the programme from now to the end of December 2017.

“This event signals the commencement of field implementation by the sub recipients. During the week, each SRs will also be assigned official programme vehicle which has been procured with grant funds to support field programme implementation,” said Chief of Party/Programme Director, Dr Godwin Asuquo from Save the Children.

The NGOs targeted HIV prevention programmes services –HIV counselling and testing to reach 194,688 men, women, young people and children. Also 11,130 men who have sex with men and 124,500 sex workers will be reached with life-saving HIV and TB services, among others.

On her part, Benjamin Mkapa Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ellen Mkondya Senkoro, noted that her company is fully committed to support the implementation of the programme for the mentioned regions, adding that they are supporting government initiatives for prevention of HIV/AIDS and TB countrywide.

The new AMREF international country director, Dr Florence Temu, said this is all about partnership and collaboration among stakeholders promised to share experience with them in order to achieve the targeted goals.

According to Doctors Sugarcane is charging men’s low batteries

It is exactly 12:30pm at Misana Restaurant along Mfangano Street. Customers trickle in, not only for lunch, but also for a new-found health drink. Sugarcane juice business at Misana started around four months ago, but with time, it has gained popularity and many more city and estate restaurants are now serving this juice.
Since word went round that the juice mixed, with ginger and other ingredients like lemon and carrots could be the secret to improved sex performance for men, the demand has gone up.

According to Hellen Migunde, Misana Restaurant manager, “We were the first to venture into the sugarcane juice business in the city about four months ago and we have maintained the lead since then.”She says their idea was to feed Nairobians and also share health benefits of the sugarcane juice.

“Many of our clients prefer the juice with ginger. They are ever optimistic for better results in bedroom matters,” Hellen adds.The drink is made using an electric sugarcane juicer from India that costs between Sh300,000 and Sh500,000.

Once you get your juice, the husks drop under the refrigerator-like machine until full and ready for disposal.Migunde reveals that, “Most of our customers are 35 years and above because they appreciate healthy lifestyle more and the fact that organic foods is key to good health.”

At Misana, a glass goes for Sh70 while at other places, the same glass retails for between Sh50 and Sh70. Migunde explains that business is good.”

Linet Wangare, another sugarcane juice dealer based at the Bus Station, told City Biz that hundreds of men line up for the drink. She pockets between Sh3,000 and Sh5,000 on a good day.

She adds that, “Most of my customers prefer the juice blended with ginger and aloe vera and I have gotten very flattering feedback from men,” she says.

Just like Wangare, Leakey Mutua who runs the same business in Kayole said, “Men have somehow found better remedy for ‘low batteries.”

Mercy Kendi who is a nutritionist based in the city does not dismiss that sugarcane juice mixed with other ingredients could be the secret to better sex life.

She said, “The reason behind sugarcane being so popular is because it gives an instant kick of energy and quenches the thirst. Sugarcane juice is a good source of glucose, which as we know, helps to re-hydrate the body and gives it a boost of energy. So we cannot dismiss that it improves sex life,” she said adding that,“Even though cane juice tastes very sweet and has high sugar content, it is good for diabetic patients.”

Sugarcane juice contains natural sugar which has low glycemic index that prevents steep rise in blood glucose levels in diabetics, so it can act as a substitute for aerated drinks. However, people with Type-2 Diabetes should consume it in moderation and after consultation with their doctors.
