A RAILWAY bridge dramatically burst into flames yesterday in Canada, engulfing the whole structure in just hours.

A RAILWAY bridge dramatically burst into flames yesterday in Canada, engulfing the whole structure in just hours.Firefighters were called to a CN Rail trestle bridge in Mayerthorpe, Alberta at about 1.30pm on Tuesday.Impressive areal video footage shows black smoke billowing from the fire.
The high structure was engulfed in flames as the camera panned around the scene.

Thick black smoke rises high into the air as fire crews fought to control the blaze.After just a few hours, the bridge collapsed.But officials think that the fire might have been started on purpose.

Mayerthorpe fire chief Randy Schroeder told CBC: “It is suspicious in nature."There were some witnesses that indicated people were in the area at the time of the fire."It is thought that the fire was started on purpose  YouTube
It is believed that the dramatic blaze was started from the bottom of the bridge.There have been up to 17 fires in the area over the last week.According to Schroeder, all are under investigation.

Resident Quinn White told CBC: "When we got here, it was a relatively small fire."We could still feel it from across the tracks. Within an hour it was just engulfed in flames."Now the whole thing has just fell down and they're bombing it with water.“There's some pillars from the truss still standing up, but for the rest of it, it's just all fallen down.”

The bridge was close to a number of buildings which had to be evacuated.Residents of 38 mobile homes in a trailer park had to leave the area, as well as some nearby schools. Within hours, the bridge had collapsed  YouTubeThose living in neighbouring Lac St. Anne County were warned that they may have to leave with just an hours warning.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, even though there were a number of witnesses to the fire.People were advised to keep their doors and windows closed and to not go near the destroyed bridge.
